Danish Chamber of Commerce has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance the apex body of the private sector in Kenya. KEPSA brings together businesses, business associations, and chambers of commerce to shape public policy, drive partnerships, and advance sustainable economic growth, and represents a reach of over 2 million businesses in Kenya through a network of over 80 industry and business associations.
This partnership will strengthen Danish companies’ access to the Kenyan and East African markets through local market insight, policy dialogue, networking and business diplomacy. The cooperation includes, among other things, business delegations, matchmaking, trade facilitation, sustainable value chains, strengthened access to local partnerships and job creation.
“KEPSA’s partnership with Danish Chamber of Commerce is a strong affirmation of Kenya’s position as a gateway to East Africa and a trusted destination for investment and enterprise. By connecting Danish businesses with our vibrant private sector ecosystem, we are not only strengthening pathways for trade and sustainable investments, but also for job creation, innovation, and market expansion across East Africa,” affirmed Carole Kariuki, CEO, KEPSA.
The agreement was signed on 3rd June 2026 at KEPSA’s head office in Nairobi with the participation of representatives from Danish Business, KEPSA and the Danish Embassy in Kenya. The partnership marks an important step in Danish Business’s ambition to strengthen the presence and engagement of Danish companies in growth markets in Africa.
“Kenya is one of the most interesting growth markets in Africa right now. Especially within green energy, digitalization, life science and logistics. Through the cooperation with KEPSA, Danish companies will gain a stronger local platform and access to an established business ecosystem in East Africa,” said DCC Vice-President Jakob Ellemann-Jensen.
At the same time, the partnership builds on Danish Business’s international development cooperation and the ambition to link economic development, job creation and market development more closely together. Through the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP), Danish Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the consortium partner PlanBørnefonden, has worked with entrepreneurship, startup environments and youth employment in the MENA region in recent years, together with local actors, companies and civil society organizations. The experience from the partnership forms an important foundation for further work with business and market development in selected growth markets.
“We see great potential in building stronger bridges between Danish companies and East African markets. It is not only about trade, but also about long-term partnerships, investments and shared growth,” added Jakob Ellemann-Jensen.
East Africa is among the fastest growing regions in the world and plays an increasingly important role in global value chains within green energy, food production, logistics and digitalization and AI. At the same time, more Danish companies are demanding new markets and stronger diversification of their international engagements. Through the collaboration with KEPSA, the Danish Chamber of Commerce wants to create better connections between Danish companies and East African markets and strengthen the foundation for investments, job creation and more robust value chains.
