Kenya’s automotive industry takes centre stage at AutoExpo 2026

The 2026 edition of AUTOEXPO Kenya, East Africa’s largest Automotive, Spare Parts and Accessories Trade Exhibition, officially got underway today in Carnivore, Nairobi with a remarkable display of innovation, technology, and business opportunities, bringing together key players from the automotive industry across the globe.

The opening day witnessed an impressive turnout of industry professionals, manufacturers, distributors, investors, policymakers, automotive enthusiasts, and members of the public, all keen to explore the latest developments transforming the mobility and transport sector.

This year’s exhibition features a diverse range of products and services, including modern vehicles, spare parts, electric vehicle technologies, batteries, tyres, lubricants, garage equipment, automotive tools, and smart mobility solutions. The event was officially opened by the Chief Guest, Samuel Karanja Njora, Secretary Administration in the State Department for Industry, who emphasized the critical role of industrialization, technological innovation, and strategic partnerships in accelerating the growth of Kenya’s manufacturing and automotive sectors.

He noted that platforms such as AUTOEXPO provide valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, investment attraction, and business expansion while supporting the country’s broader industrial development agenda.

Joining him during the opening ceremony were Duncan Njage, Regional Director of Expogroup East Africa, who welcomed exhibitors and participants from different parts of the world and reaffirmed the exhibition’s role as a key regional business networking platform.

Also present was Margaret Muchoki, Board Member of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association of Kenya (APMA), who highlighted the importance of strengthening local manufacturing capacity and promoting collaboration between local and international automotive players.

Representing the growing electric mobility sector, Brian Kipkemoi, Chairman of the Electric Cars Society, underscored the increasing adoption of electric vehicles in Kenya and the need for continued investment in charging infrastructure, innovation, and public awareness.

The exhibition’s Title Sponsor, Alex Huang of Airumi New Energy Zambia Limited, expressed confidence in Africa’s rapidly expanding automotive market and emphasized the importance of clean energy technologies in shaping the future of transportation across the continent.
