Kenyan political strategist and communications expert Pauline Njoroge has resigned from the Jubilee Party after 14 years, joining the Linda Mwananchi Movement in a move that could influence opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general election.
Njoroge said on Tuesday she had resigned from both the Jubilee Party and her position as the party’s deputy organising secretary with immediate effect.
Her political career within the party dates back to 2012 when she joined The National Alliance (TNA) as communications manager before it merged with the United Republican Party (URP) to form the Jubilee Party.
In a statement announcing her resignation, Njoroge thanked former President Uhuru Kenyatta, describing him as her mentor and saying he had entrusted her with responsibilities that shaped her career and broadened her understanding of leadership and governance.
She said her time in the party had provided valuable lessons and lifelong friendships but added that she believed it was time to pursue a new political path.
Njoroge said she had been involved with the Linda Mwananchi Movement since February, describing it as a platform that reflects the aspirations of Kenyans seeking accountable leadership, constitutionalism, respect for the rule of law and servant leadership.
She also expressed support for the broader WANTAM movement, saying it represents a push for integrity, constitutional governance and leadership focused on the interests of ordinary citizens.
Njoroge said her decision to leave Jubilee was not motivated by dissatisfaction but by a conviction that Kenya needs leaders committed to accountability, constitutional values and restoring public confidence in governance.
She described Linda Mwananchi as a movement aimed at amplifying the voices of ordinary citizens, defending human rights, upholding the constitution and promoting transparent and service-oriented leadership.
Her resignation comes as Kenya’s opposition parties and political movements continue to reorganise ahead of the 2027 election, with several new formations seeking to expand their influence.
Political analysts say the move could intensify debate over Jubilee’s future while raising the profile of the Linda Mwananchi Movement, though it remains unclear whether it will encourage further defections from established political parties.
