Wiper Patriotic Front and Azimio la Umoja Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has today condemned the arrest of Mukurweini MP, Hon. John Kaguchia, over his public remarks describing it as arbitrary and calling for the law to be applied equally to all political leaders.
In a statement, Musyoka said he does not support incitement by any individual and reaffirmed that all leaders have a responsibility to uphold peace and respect the rule of law.
He said Kenya’s Constitution guarantees freedom of expression and argued that law enforcement should act impartially rather than selectively.
He accused President ‘s administration of applying double standards, alleging that previous inflammatory remarks by government officials had not resulted in legal action.
He cited past statements by senior government figures, including the president and other officials, and questioned why opposition politicians faced enforcement while government leaders did not.
“If incitement is the standard, apply it to everyone,” Musyoka said, adding that justice should not depend on whether an individual supports the government or belongs to the opposition.
This comes as Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale (Health) and Geoffrey Ruku (Public Service) are under active investigation by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
The commission launched an inquiry into the two cabinet secretaries alongside former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and seven other high-profile individuals. They are accused of propagating ethnic incitement, political intolerance, and hate speech ahead of the 2027 general election.
