UDA named Kenya’s top grassroots political party at 2026 Bobea Leadership Awards

The recognition underscored UDA's expansive grassroots presence and reaffirmed its people-centered approach to political engagement, resulting to a strong organizational network across the country.

Kenya’s ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was named the country’s most impactful, people-centered and influential grassroots-based political party at the 2026 Bobea Leadership Awards held last night at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

The awards presented during the gala event recognised leaders, institutions and organisations for contributions to ethical leadership, public service and community development.

According to the organisers, the Bobea Leadership Awards is an independent platform that honours excellence in leadership, governance, public service and community impact across Kenya.

Former Maendeleo ya Wanawake National Chairperson Zipporah Kittony attended the event as chief guest where she was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her decades of public service, political leadership and work promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment and inclusive development. The award was presented by Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) and Regional Development Beatrice Askul.

UDA’s award was received by National Executive Committee member Cecilia Asinyen Ng’itit, accompanied by party officials including Programmes and Partnerships Director Daniel Kiptoo, Communications Director Nathaniel Mong’are, Events Planning and Logistics Director Sam Mwangi, Membership Director Grace Gicovi, Devolution and County Affairs Director Omulo Junior, and Women Affairs Director Margaret Ndanyi.

In a statement, the party said the recognition reflected its efforts to strengthen grassroots structures, expand citizen participation and maintain close engagement with communities across the country.

The party said it has built its national presence through county and grassroots networks, community outreach programmes, youth and women empowerment initiatives, and membership recruitment campaigns. It added that it continues to advocate policies focused on economic empowerment, devolution and improved public service delivery.

The award recognised UDA’s organisational reach and grassroots mobilisation as it continues to expand its political presence across Kenya.
