Yan Diomande is now a new Real Madrid player after the club made the announcement after finalising all the remaining details of a transfer in which they once again beat out other European giants, especially PSG.
“Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Yan Diomande, who will be tied to our club for the next seven seasons, until 30 June 2033,” Madrid announced.
Although the figure has not been made public, the agreement with RB Leipzig was finally closed at around €125 million plus 15 million in add-ons for the winger who dazzled in the Bundesliga last season after signing from Leganes just 12 months.
Diomande, an Ivorian international, had been a target for several of Europe’s top clubs, such as Liverpool and PSG, among others. In fact, he had already reached a personal agreement with the French club, but still needed to agree terms with Leipzig.
That’s when Real Madrid entered the scene, also with an agreement with Diomande, and blew up the deal with the Parisians.
Diomande is Madrid’s sixth signing this summer, following Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Espi.
Madrid, who hired Portuguese veteran Jose Mourinho as coach for a second spell to replace Alvaro Arbeloa, are overhauling their squad after going two consecutive seasons without a major trophy.
Los Blancos have also been linked with a move for Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.
